Digital and Print publication

Digital publication offers a bigger range and variety of offers than print publication.

Digital publication offers a bigger variety such as sound options. This can be used to be played when moving from one page to another or just as a background sound when people will be reading.

Another offer digital publication offers is the special effects which would be used to go from one page to another. This could be going from side to stop as an animation or a blurry to sharp screen. This just depends on the publisher and what he/she likes.

Digital publishing also can use external links. This could be used as referencing from one site to another due to taking information from that page or maybe due to the fact of using pictures from that page.

Digital publishing is cheaper and can be afforded by more people to do as it would cost less and be easier to publish it online. The negative side is that you would not gain as much money in the magazine industry as it would be not as expensive online. This is since the internet can be accessed by billions of people worldwide.

Digital publishing also uses less space as it isn’t printed out but can just be seen on the internet and easily accessible.

Print publication is it makes more money as it is printed in a bulk and then handed out in a bulk. This would also include tons of adverts. The prices of printing of a magazine is expensive so the price of the magazine will be expensive to cover the printing cost and making profit.

Print publication offers a bigger boost to the economy which is due to the fact people will buy it and would cost more as its been printed out and the amount of ink papers and adverts needed in the magazine to cover the cost.

The negative part is the harm printing would do to the environment and the air. The breaking down of trees lowers the oxygen cycle and the less oxygen which goes into the air. The number of trees used it print a dozen of magazines. The cost would be a lot and the amount of breaking down trees would be a lot.

As it will be a printed-out document it will require handbag space which would depend of people buy it or not cause of the space needed in bags. Where’s if it was an online document it would only need internet as it would be see on the internet and not printed out.

Magazine labeling

We had a task to do magazine labelling. The things we had to label about were the header, date, pictures, headline and secondary title. This activity was done so we are able to know what magazines look like and what things are on a magazine. We also saw magazines which had pull quotes and more information. We also found out how front page magazines look like and what they have. They have text on the left hand size this is due to the fact that when they are stacked in shops they are stacked from left to right. We also found out that magazines which are more new have more ethnic minorities on their front covers. As time progressed magazines because more open in allowing ethic minorities to be in their magazines. This made a huge impact on the media industry and allowed ethnic minorities to be in more movies and magazines.
